Facepalmed Coffee

I’ve just rolled out of bed a bit ago, made a quick large cup of coffee, and have begun the day with a job for a client.

As I study what I’ve done so far, I’m starting to realize that I’m getting better with finding some common issues and fixing them a bit in Cubase. I regret not dumping more time into this DAW until the last couple years or so.

Once the client job is done, I have a folder with about 72-74 files, majority of them considered demo phase old or new, a couple that have been released even. My goal this year is to add more to that same folder and re-record a lot of it, then distribute it. I came into this year with the “I don’t care” attitude about my old songs or some of the newer ones. I’ve been sitting on well over 16 hours of demoed material since 1998, and I believe it to be in my best interest to do all of it with all that I’ve learned over the last 20 years, and publish it. Whether I get a “this is amazing” or “this fucking sucks” from people, I do not honestly care starting this year. I’m my own worst critic and I’m holding myself accountable for that.

In between, I still have my first released album from 2008 (since removed from all platforms that I am aware of) to get finished with the more modern stuff. That, I do hope to wrap up and release later this year as well, especially since I will be pouring what I can into promoting it.

For now, I have a day ahead of me. Balancing DI levels into reamping, customizing a cabinet IR for the project itself that sounds appropriate, and then using all my notes from a previous mix so as to improve what I attempted on the last run. Once it is completely done, a day or two to organize more files of my own and continue setting up the folder that will house all projects for the year and beyond, then start tracking every single until I cannot do more.

Let’s get this day going!
